Sorry is it getting old yet? This week was temple pday so that's why I'm writing today!
The temple today was excellent. If you've never been, go! if you don't know how to get in, talk to someone who's a member of the church and they'll tell how.
Well folks this past week and a half has been quite eventful! I really could write for hours but I don't have the time or the desire to do that so we are going to go with the short version/highlights!
We had intercambios last Monday and after playing soccer, football, and basketball all day we went and played more soccer! Fantastic day. Companion exchanges were great, always great to work with some other elders and learn and see miracles!
After that a pretty normal week, some good lessons, good finding people with potential but we lost our 2 people with baptismal dates. One from permission from parents (that we didn't get), and the other from just little things. But were still rolling!
Saturday was great! It was the world wide day of service the Christmas initiative LIGHT THE WORLD! We made some lunches and handed them out and It was a good time.
Sunday we had stake conference in Madrid and wow, it was like being in a normal stake back in Utah! Elder Benezar on of the area 70 here came and gave a killer talk on charity but in reality the entire meeting was fantastic! The spirit was super strong! If you don't know what the spirit feels like talk with your local missionaries or friends who are members!
Monday and Tuesday were solid, and today we had a great day wandering around downtown Madrid and dropping a fat roll on some amazing American food. It was worth every cent!
I have been studying church history lately, along with lots of other things hehe, and one glaring issue that caused many a problem in the young restored church was the lack of remembrance of its members. People destroyed their lives because they failed to remember! I want to repeat that, PEOPLE DESTROYED THEIR LIVES, COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY DESTROYED THEIR PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL LIVES BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO REMEMBER! In my personal experience when I start to forget about things, especially blessings, and where they came from, I begin to become prideful. And if you've read one or two of my emails in the past you know of my position, and the Lords position on pride. Its extremely dangerous. One of the things that has happened to many good people, is they have forgotten their what and why, and most importantly their God and have fallen into the trap of their own "ability", "power", "knowledge", or cleverness. Their is something much more dangerous even, forgetting our spiritual experiences, or putting them in doubt. When we forget our spiritual experiences we show God they are of no importance to us, and even more dangerously we begin to doubt that we ever had them or that anyone could ever have them. When that happens our faith begins to weaken, and when our faith or trust in something weakens we begin to think for ourselves and decide that we don't need "some stupid belief to give us strength" we believe we know better and that "I'm strong enough by myself". And that my dear friends is exactly where Satan wants us. If he can convince us to forget things he can begin, slowly and surely, to teach us "new" things that will continuously lead us away from God to that suffering and damnation where Satan dwells. Multiple leaders and apostles in the early days of the church lost their eternal blessings and promises because they failed to remember their spiritual experiences and began to doubt. Men that had seen visions, that had seen the golden plates, and had heard the prophet Joseph Smith prophecy and declare the words of the Lord, forgot and doubted, and fell far away from "the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments"(Mosiah 2:41). No wonder Satan gives us so many ways to forget. I invite you to remember.
Remember your blessings, remember your family, remember your spiritual experiences that lead you to believe in God, remember to pray, remember to read the scriptures, remember to say thank you, remember to say I love you, 9 O remember, remember, my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people; yea, remember that there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember that he cometh to redeem the world. (Helaman 5). Remember to listen to your parents, remember to do your chores, remember to be humble, remember to be obedient, AND REMEMBER TO NEVER GIVE UP!
I love you all so much! Please REMEMBER that!
I know it's a lot but its worth the read p.
