October 8, 2018 Madrid Spain Mission Week # 63 " Heating up as it cools off Yr 2"
Well folks this week in Cuenca as the temperature dropped, things got lit!
Legitimately it was a week full of miracles! We started off finding ourselves with our long lost friend Susi who had a baptismal date, had a good chat with her and her two kids. Set up a schedule to start meeting, and this week we are going to extend the invitation to be baptized again (seeing that she's only been busy working and said she's still planning on being baptized). Then all of the sudden people decided they wanted to start talking with us, and we legit had people stopping us in the street to talk which never happens. We were able to meet some awesome people with lots of potential! We have a pretty solid teaching pool of people, we are really feeling blessed right now. We had some good appointments with people who are willing and wanting to change and improve their lives. I'm not going to list all of them, but I will talk about a few that really made progress this week! Valentin, after playing soccer Friday we followed up with his reading and praying. He completely flipped out haha. He goes on to tell us that the night before he read what we had assigned him and after he said a prayer. He said that all of the sudden he began to feel something, a good feeling, that made him feel better than he had ever felt before! Also turns out that this week he found out that within a few weeks he's headed to Romania until February. So we bumped that date up, and he's going to be baptized this Saturday! Saturday night after watching some conference, we headed to a members house to teach his daughter. She's 10 but not a member so now she is looking forward to her baptism on the 27th of October! Sunday we had an appointment with Valentin and his mom before conference, and she wants to learn more about the church and her baptism when she comes back in February! We also met some awesome friends of some members that listened to us and set an appointment to meet up this week! This was the very brief version of our week!
Blessings coming like crazy!
I hope all of you had the opportunity to watch General Conference. If not, WATCH IT! It was fantastic, and there are plenty of answers there for all of your questions! Along with the amazing words of our Prophet about the importance of the name of the church of JESUS CHRIST, I loved the talk from Elder Holland. Love his intensity, passion, and testimony of the Gospel. He shared some thoughts on the effects of pride, and IF WE DON'T HUMBLE OURSELVES AND LET GO OF OUR PRIDE, WE DO UNTOLD DAMAGE TO OTHERS AND MAKE OUR OWN LIFE HARDER, MORE PAINFUL, AND MORE BITTER than it needs to be. It's not something easy to do, it's not something easy, but it is a conscience decision that we must make if we truly want something better. I love the quote from Elder Holland "salvation is not a cheap experience". That's why it's hard, because what we will gain is like nothing we could ever imagine! Salvation is like nothing we could ever imagine. I testify of that, along with the blood, sweat, and tears of every person who has tried, is trying, or will try, that it is possible but as with everything of value it has it's price.
I love all of you but more importantly your Father in heaven does! Remember to say your prayers, read your scriptures, count your blessings, do your chores, listen to General Conference, let go of your pride, and NEVER GIVE UP!
Gang gang
