November 5, 2018 Week # 67 "November/ foundation" Cuenca Spain , Madrid Spain Mission
Well this week not a whole lot to report on, lots of work, not a whole lot of immediate results. Things are good.
We had a lot of appointments fail. We have our Bolivian buddy Eric, turns out his records were lost ( his dinosaur must have eaten them... he was baptized a fat minute ago.) So we worked with him and had a good lesson to start the process. His records aren't the only thing that were lost, being less active for a while has really eaten his testimony as well, but we are well under way getting that back, and him in the water. Along with his family. Couple other people doing good as well. Our buddy Guiseppe almost died, his apartment lit on fire. He got out okay. God's really trying to help this dude get baptized, we are really seeing miracles and we have tons of work to do. We put in a little overtime today, met with some people.
Today we haven't done a whole lot, cleaning, shopping, trying to fix our apartment lol the plumber and such have been passing through.
So this week I was reading the Book of Mormon ( yeah I know, strange right?) Haha and I found something extremely interesting. Most people find the war chapters in the Book of Mormon interesting but not of A lot of value when it comes to learning, i disagree. A lot of people ask us why, as members of "the church of Christ" , we participate in wars. Well folks I found the answer. Alma 43:47 "And again, THE LORD HAS SAID THAT: YE SHALL DEFEND YOUR FAMILIES EVEN UNTO BLOODSHED"... That's pretty straightforward. But one part extremely important is the word -DEFEND- that doesn't mean to look for problems or to take offense easily. We are to still be disciples of Jesus Christ, BUT in their "duty which they owed to their God" they "were inspired by a better cause, for they were not fighting for monarchy nor power but they were fighting for their homes and their liberties, their wives and their children, and their all, yeah, for their rites of worship and their church". They received the power from God when "they cried unto with one voice unto the Lord their God, for their liberty and their freedom from bondage. And they began to stand against the Lamanites with power... in that selfsame hour". SO WHAT CAN WE LEARN? Well are we doing our "duty" to our God everyday, in fighting against the evils, ahem pornography, drugs, theft, lack of obedience, perversion, unneeded violence, hate, pride, and the multitude of other things that plague us? Are we protecting our families, our homes, our children, our country, our rights, and our beliefs everyday? We cannot stand by in this world or we will become casualties on this battlefield. This is the MOST IMPORTANT BATTLE WE WILL EVER FIGHT, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW! DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? Now, are we following the example of the nephites and have we "cried with one voice unto the Lord (our) God"? IF NOT, WHY? I invite you, encourage you, exhort you, beg you, and pray that you do.
I JUST FEEL LIKE YELLING ALL THIS AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS!
I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know this church is true, I know it's easy to get distracted, that's the importance of daily temple attendance and complete Sabbath day observance. To help us to realize what's important. I love all of you, read the scriptures; talk with your parents, earthly and heavenly; don't do drugs; be humble; count your blessings; apply the scriptures in your life; go to church; laugh a little; FIGHT EVERY SINGLE DAY AGAINST THE EVIL; do hard things; say your prayers, and then listen for an answer; AND DON'T EVER GIVE UP!
Cookie game on strong (we made some people mad)
Who's your cookie monster?
