| New Chapel in Algeciras!!! |
Tuesday we started exchanges with the other Elders which is always super fun. We went out a a shore ate some good food, did a little language study which was super sick. But we worked in their area so not a whole lot to report on other than it was a good time.
Friday was quite a day, we did service all day long which was awesome. We started in the soup kitchen, served all morning there. After we ate lunch we went to help a member with his house getting ready to paint, and then after a little study, we went to help Patricia with her store getting stuff organized. It was killer!
Saturday we played some soccer and had some lessons with some less active members that turned out super good as well!
Sunday was fantastic, yesterday that is, we had the first meetings in the new chapel! It was a little bit unorganized but so good. We were missing the clothes, and trays for the sacrament, but President Guttenberger went and got the trays but we were still missing the cloth and as we found out.... bread as well haha. Well it just turned out that promptings had influenced one of the sisters who came from San Fernando (a couple hours away) to bring a completely white shawl that we used as the cloth. Then seeing as it was fast Sunday for us, because of the conference last week, there was a bunch of food lying around waiting to be eaten. So we used a bit of banana cake/bread which legitamtely was a dream come true haha! And aside from that we had an incredible spiritual meeting followed by a bunch of amazing food! Day couldn't get better, but then it did. Jimmy our ward mission leader had his birthday this past week so we went there to celebrate and we grilled a fat amount of meat and ate till we couldn't! Its the best I've eaten in Spain, probably because it reminded me so much of a bbq stateside and the fact that we talked football for a good while haha. It was super awesome.
Today we've been all over but got to play some volleyball which was super fun.
One thing I realized this past week is the importance of basing values in the right things, but most importantly what God thinks. Today we see the lack of values throughout the world and the devastating effects of that. We should try our best to look at our actions and conduct not by the ever changing standard of the world, but by the standard of God that will never change. We should do what he would be proud of, I testify that when we follow our parents counsel, earthly and celestial, we will be happier, more successful, and better people.
I love all of you, have a good week. Read your scriptures, say your prayers, be humble, be thankful, and decide what kind of person you want to be!
