Week # 38 "Incoming" April 16,2018 Malaga Spain Mission , Algeciras

"What a prophet" Quote that session! Well folks this week flew by, but at that same time seemed extremely long at the end of it. It was amazing and we worked like crazy and saw miracles.

In all truth it's a struggle to remember the beginning of last week but there's always the exciting moments! Last Tuesday we had an awesome lesson with our investigator Jenny. She wasn't going to get baptized because she didn't want to pay tithing, then a less active told her tithing was an optional thing so it was just a big mess. We straightened that out, she committed to pay tithing, we set a baptismal date for the 20th, then watched some conference and ate cookies and sandwiches. It was fantastic.

This week we weren't able to meet with our other investigator Vicente he's a evangelist that thinks were gonna do something to him when he comes to church, so he hasn't came. But he is reading!

Wednesday we met a old less active that lives a ways from the church named Cesar, he invited us to eat with him after a scattered 45 minute lesson of the restoration, but we politely declined as we didn't have any spare hours to spend. As we left he told us that we call him a friend, no a brother, no actually a dad, he told us to call him our dad haha what a great guy.

Thursday we went out to La Linea (which is right next to Gibraltar), and went to work there! We had a crazy couple of hours there as we tried to fit five appointments in with less actives there. We had a very straightforward lesson with Ana Lía about true conversion (but she came to church Sunday for the first time since I've been here. I was so happy I almost cried!), we had a good lesson with Carmen, she from Peru and her husband who is wheelchair bound so it's hard for them to get around, but it was great. And then we passed by our OGs Original Grammas de La Linea  haha. They were both baptized a long while ago when there was a church there. Ana Florín is killer, super strong member but can't come to church because of her health and transportation, the same goes for Dolores. Ana Florín and me have a little deal going (unspoken of course) we bring a small treat and she hooks it up with the best tortilla de patata I've ever had and some orange Aquarias (Gatorade for Spain) and some sweet of some kind. We definitely get the better end but she loves it haha. Going for three weeks now that is. Dolores was a long lost member that no one ever really tried to find but is the sweetest lady in the whole world and remembers her active days in the church "the happiest days of her life" and were on track to get her back into those days. Packaged with her is her "caretaker" who after a week is in 2 Nephi! Nother bap coming up. Then we have Joe. So La Linea is pretty notorious for its drugs, it's a border town, and I had a first hand experience with that haha. We swung past Joe's and his roommate was there. Joe's 60, divorced with no job, and no plans. We're working on it. But Thursday when we went over his roommate, who was acting a little loopy but had admitted to a couple beers as a celebration for his favorite soccer team winning, wanted to talk to me so we walked into his room and the first thing I saw was the fattest pile of hash sitting on his bed haha. He casually mentions (in his English accent) "yeah I'm not gonna lie, that's my hash uhhhh sorry. I'm gonna go out to the beach here in a sec and relax" haha. Then we talked about how we could help Joe haha. Joe is doing better, he might be moving back to London to find a job. But we continue.

Friday we had a branch THE and me and Elder Chapple made three cups worth of rice pudding (arroz con leche) and between me him and the two members and other two investigadors that stayed from English classes we put it away haha.

Sunday was great. We had a bit of people that were members in the church and that was awesome. Me and Elder Chapple talked and man, a fervent prayer, 20 minutes of preparation and the guide of the spirit can go a long way!

This week I've really strived to have love for others, and what a difference it makes! In Moroni 7 it says:
47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.

Charity is Love, and when we pray to have love, and try to have love and we focus on loving, we will "suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things" we will "never faileth". WE WILL HAVE THE POWER TO CHOOSE, THE POWER TO HELP, THE POWER TO LIVE A BETTER, HAPPIER, MORE FULL LIFE! I can't say it enough. Its the basis of all things. God commanded that we should love him (so we follow the rest of the commandments) and then commanded that we love everyone else! Could you imagine if we did that? What the results would be?

I love all of you, I love God, and Jesus Christ, I love this work. This week love someone, be more thankful, and be more obedient, AND WATCH THE MIRACLES ROLL FORTH LIKE GOD HAS PROMISED! Say your prayers, stay humble, and read the Book of Mormon. Have a good week.
