March 19, 2018 Week #34 Malaga Spain, Algeciras "hey watch out for the... HURRICANE"

Well another week has passed and time is legit just speeding up, the days have officially melded together.

This week was good we had appointments with a lot of members and investigators. We worked and worked and worked some more, through the rain or rain haha it was another wet week. We re-started English classes, the first time was on Wednesday since they stopped doing them a couple months ago. We had a decent turnout and a couple people that could turn into investigators so were excited.

Our investigator Jenny started a new job and so we weren't able to meet with her much so we are going to have to push her baptism back a little but no worries she's solid. Elmer as well he's progressing, just not receiving and understanding things as fast as he would like. Our other buddy with a date, Alberto, failed us. He decided not to close his shop to come to  church which was hard especially after we had really been praying hard and fasting for it. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE LORDS TIMING. God has a plan for him just like he has a plan for all of us. We have a sick member Melenek and his wife Kadijatu(pronounced kadisha) and their family. He's from Jamaica/West Indies/London haha and hes super cool, he's a lawyer in Gibraltar and also the 1st counselor in the branch. We had a Family night with them and it was a good time.

Saturday we went out to La linea to do some service for a member and finish cleaning some mold in her house. She's the top apartment and the roof is broken so she's had water coming through for the past couple weeks. After that we starting passing by less actives and it was raining a little but we didn't think anything of it. As the night progressed it just got worse but we were already soaked so we just didn't care. And then things just got straight wild haha, the wind and the rain began to just pound, sideways haha. The rain was coming at a level parralel with the ground and things were flying all over the place. Then as we got to the coast where the bus stop was the waves combined forces with the rain and it was ridiculous haha, the roads were all practically full of water and the wind was strong enough to blow you over. As we found out later, apparently there had been a storm warning issued for that night that we didn't know about haha. But we got home safe.

Sunday the stake President came down and we had a good meeting. Some crazy drunk dude came in and made a scene but the yelled that we weren't Christians and stumbled off. Then we had a appointment with this member Patricia in her store, and her daughter made the best brownies I've ever had. Never thought I'd find those here, Spain is just full of surprises.

This week I was reading in Romans and in Romans 12:21 it says "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." We cannot fight darkness with darkness as the world would have us believe. WE MUST BE BETTER, DARKNESS CANNOT CHASE OUT DARKNESS ONLY LIGHT CAN DO THAT. IT IS OUR DUTY TO FIGHT THE DARKNESS WITH THE LIGHT THAT WE HAVE. We can increase that light by correct choices, being selfless instead of selfish. Putting others first and truly choosing happiness over pleasure.

I love all of you and hope you have a good week!
