Half and Half So you wanna talk about Baptisms?/My comps leg is broke Week 28 Malaga Spain Mission
Well we definitely had some excitement here in Murcia this week and it continues to develop.
First, we really don't know if Elder Benedicts leg is broke but most likely it is. We went rock climbing last week, and one of the times he fell (even though it was a padded mat) he might have one some damage. It wasnt until he called the Doc, after the baptisms this weekend of course, that he finally said he was at an 8 or 9 on the pain scale. One tough dude for sure, he's a beast. So today has been crazy with filling out paperwork, getting an x ray, and setting up a trip to Cartagena so there goes p-day. But it's been a great week.
Half and Half, for those of you who haven't seen the recent news from the church they are changing some missions around the world. With this change, the España Malaga mission with be dissolved and the missionaries therein will be reassigned. That will take affect starting July 1, we have known for a couple weeks but couldn't say anything until the official announcement was released. SO what does this means for me haha, I will serve half my mission in the Malaga mission and then be reassigned to the Madrid, Spain (west side) or the Barcelona, Spain (east side) mission. It will depend on where I'm serving at the time, which will be changing in about 3 weeks sadly. So it's pretty sad that everything's getting shut down in Malaga but it will be exciting as well.
So the baptisms. This weekend we had 5 baptisms which is (a mission record, but we don't have records because we don't compete, but if we did, we would have set it lol) extremely awesome! It was sooo cool and for the first time in a minute I might have cried a little bit. I had the opportunity to baptize two of the five; Samuel and Vlad. Hong-Chun was baptized by a member Carlos, Adrian was baptized by Bishop (Obispo) Verdú, and Morris was baptized Sunday by Elder Benedict. It was an amazing opportunity to be used as a tool in the hands of the Lord to make this happen, a very humbling experience indeed. Our Mission President and his wife joined us as well for the service and gave a few very special words.
Sunday we had a early early funeral for a member and then sacrament meeting where we had the confirmations. Again I was a little bit prideful, but definitely more than humbled when they told me, one by one as they sat down, that they wanted me to confirm them. The spirit was so strong in that chapel as these 4 received the Holy Ghost that the change of the environment was noted by more than one person.
The coolest moment came in Preisthood, when were ordaining them. Samuel asked me to do it and again I was extremely humbled to have the opportunity to do so. He then in turn was able to ordain Adrian, while I watched my recent convert, someone I have grown to love, even though we are completely different people, lay his hands on another person that I have grown to love, to worthily exercise his priesthood authority a feeling came over me that I do not have the words to explain. On Saturday President Anderson had told me that the roar of 65,000 or more fans would be a special feeling indeed, but nothing compared to the experience of this baptism service. In the moment that Samuel put his hands on Adrians head, I knew that no matter of how many thousands or millions of fans I had cheering for me, it would never give me such a feeling as I had in that moment. I know, that the church is true. I know that with faith I will be able to overcome my doubts and one day have a perfect knowledge. I know that these are things of eternal importance, and that eternal things are so much better than we can comprehend. I know Jesus Christ lives. In his name, Amen.
Sunday afternoon we had the baptism of Morris which was great. I would need a book to write about that. Then we had ward council which was long but great as well. It was a fantastic week for us here, i hope all of you are doing good. Keep praying, being thankful, and this week I CHALLENGE ALL OF YOU TO ACT IN FAITH! I love you all
