"Light it up " Week # 19 December 4, 2017

Tyler Layne Batty

Well this week was absolutely crazy. To say the least. Transfers, activities and surprise visits made it one big blur, so I'm going to sum it up the best I can in the little time I have.

A lot of teaching and awesome experiences, a ton more studying and learning, and a ton of getting lit (in the sense of lighting the world). It was a really cool week to say the least. Thursday I received a call from a long time family friend who said that she was in Spain and would be swinging through if we could fit it in our schedule. So we did, she brought by some amazing food (like the ham leg below), and some delicious American candy haha and we went out for lunch which was an awesome time. That night we kicked of the "Light the World" activity and had a great time with that. We had a bunch of investigators and members there, so we explained the initiative and then went out in the streets and contacted tons of people. Sunday was by far the best day. Our investigator Roman has been progressing like crazy and Saturday night when he found out we were fasting he decided to join us. Then on Sunday in sacrament meeting he bore his testimony about faith and shared his current favorite scripture Alma 26:22.  The spirit was super strong and everyone was rather amazed but so happy for him.

I want to share a little bit of something I came across this week while studying. Its a comparison of the calming of the sea and Peter walking upon the water with our own life.

"Into every adult human life come experiences like unto the battling of the storm-tossed voyagers with contrary winds and threatening seas; ofttimes the night of struggle and danger is far advanced before succor appears; and then, too frequently the saving aid is mistaken for a greater terror. As came unto Peter and his terrified companions in the midst of the turbulent waters, so comes to all who toil in faith, the voice of the Deliverer ----- "It is I; be not afraid." " ( Talmage, Jesus the Christ, pg. 337)

What are our dark nights on turbulent seas?
What saving aid are we misunderstanding or not recognizing?
And are we exercising faith that Jesus is in fact capable of providing the deliverance?

The power of faith is so huge, and its what is expected from all of us. I love all of you and hope you have a good week! Remember to be thankful and #lighttheworld
