Milagros mi amigos Week #11
Well another week here in Spain not a whole lot of new stuff, the elders from Molina had a baptism of a girl who has been investigating for two years. And there was another baptism on Sunday of an 8 year old which was awesome because there was a ton of FOOD and we had been fasting all day. This week really was a prep week, we have a ton of good things in the works. We taught a part member family (the dad isn't a member) and they're not married so it's a tough situation especially because he works a ton and is always tired haha. But we had a good lesson invited him to read The Book of Mormon and attend church with us. So he said he would read and if he felt like God wanted him to go to church he would come. So guess who showed up to church on Sunday? Our soon to be convert Jonathan haha. I don't know what will happen but he definitely felt something and is progressing. Our other investigator John (super confusing sorry) is awesome as well and has done everything we've asked him to, we helped him prep his house for painting but he was super busy this week so we couldn't meet with him, but he came to church again so that's three weeks in a row! So we just have to set a date with him and he's gonna be baptized. Super crazy from what I've been hearing A. You don't baptize people in Spain ever and were killing it rn B. Right now is the best the work has ever been here in Murcia, missionaries and members included. So super blessed with all of that and I'm not even to the best part yet. Friday nights here in Spain are crazy especially in the city, so Friday night were out grinding and not a whole lots happening so we decide to go to a different area. As soon as we step into this part of the city called the Fama (it's a little poorer part) we have a man start walking towards us, just a little sketchy, turns out he's a member that moved from Barcelona 2 months ago. Super awesome that we found him because he doesn't know Murcia and had lost the church when he had moved. So we got his info and are having his records transferred to our ward. We keep contacting and decide to swing by the house of a less active member who we have tried to catch home at least once a week if not twice since I got here with no success. Friday night he was home. We shared a short message got some cookies and lemonade and also some mandarin oranges and went on our way. Feeling super blessed already me and elder Biegel were in a super good mood and just being super thankful for such a great night. Were on our way back to our apartment and we run into a super cool guy named Rolando who we shared an orange with and a little about the church, turns out he's super interested and wants to hear more. At this point me and elder Biegel stop and say a prayer thanking God for such a great night. But behold God was not finished with us yet. Not a minute after we got done saying this prayer we run into two guys who kinda approach us in a weird way, ask us if were Jehovah's witnesses (so sick of the blasphemies of those guys) and we say no. We went on to explain that were Mormon missionaries and such and then out of the blue they tell us about a friend of theirs who is sick and asked us to pray for her. So we told them we could do one better with the power of the priesthood and were waiting to hear back. But what a night it was. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT GOD LOVES US and he wants to bless us, let me repeat that for emphasize, for the people in the back, GOD WANTS TO BLESS US. All he asks is have a little faith and BE THANKFUL. Whether it's searching for people to help, looking for peace, or even asking for physical things. With a little work, a little patience, a little faith, and being super thankful for what you have already I PROMISE YOU as a representative of our God, and his son Jesus Christ, that you will receive what you are asking for.
Today we went to a cathedral here in Murcia it's from early 1400s pretty cool, got some pictures. Went out to a shopping mall a little outside Murcia and hung out for a bit it was sweet. But I didn't take any pictures of that.
I hope y'all have a good week, bless up, I love you all.
Elder Batty
