Week # eight -The Fresh Prince of Murcia
Well another week is in the books, sorry for my extremely brief email last week. So I am in the city of Murcia for my first area and I love it here. My companion is Elder Biegel from Alpine and he's pretty cool. My first full day here we set a baptismal date with a new investigator and that was awesome but then we have been traveling so much we haven't been able to figure things out.
This past week and the week before have been a straight blur. The Paris airport was awesome, and the flights weren't too bad. The mission home which is actually just outside Malaga, in Fuengirola is super nice. We had a 7 hour bus ride to Murcia which was all super confusing but I'm starting to get a handle. This past week I had to go do my residency card and had a 7 hour bus back to Malaga, stayed Tuesday did it Wednesday and then came back Thursday only to leave again in the middle of the night Friday to take another 7 hour bus ride to the Elder Holland Conference in Malaga haha. Pero the conference with Elder Holland was awesome! It was just our mission so we had 130 or so missionaries and he gave an awesome typical pulpit pounding sermon that inspired and scared us just a little. My favorite part from his talk was when he related a story about while he was at Yale and they had a swimmer who had broken 22 world records by the time he was 18 join their swim team and they asked him what makes him a champion, and the swimmer said "you gotta kick when you don't want to kick, and you've got to stroke when you don't want to stroke". So this little piece of advice can do an amazing amount for us in our spiritual lives, as well as in any other things we do.
Yesterday at church was a wild day, spanish is pretty difficult here with all the different accents and my still very limited knowledge, so after three hours of intensely focusing on what people were trying to say my head straight hurt haha. Then we, by a miracle set up a teaching appointment with a members friend that has attended church the past 4 weeks but wouldn't meet with us, and we set it for 6 yesterday night. So we taught her the restorstion and set a baptismal date with her for 21 of October which took just over and hour haha. Then after she came and wanted to move it up which was crazy, so she's now being baptized in two weeks but the baptismal interview has to be done a week in advance so we have until Thursday(because she's going out of town all weekend) to teach her all the leccions and get her a baptismal interview. Haha but its okay because in two weeks were filling the font. So that's crazy exciting!
Well maritza the member, and Christina the investigator, just showed up and were in a huge fight so we'll see where this goes hahahah.
Here's some pics, me and my comp in our selfie mirror, some dope dudes that were here during the festival, while I was in Malaga I bought a uke so then I took it to the beach and jammed, and some sick pics of the streets. And I also bought a new backpack, which for me is a huge acheivement because I have had only my yellow fox one from the time I was in kindergarten hahaha.
I hope everything is going good with you all. Much love!
