Week 2

Hola,

Another even crazier week here at the Provo MTC, Saturday is officially my p-day until i'm out in the field.  We have done so much this past week I don't even know where to begin so i'll start with Sunday of last week. Sunday instead of being my easiest day of my week is now probably my hardest, no 2 or 3 hour naps anymore, they have been replaced with 4-5 more hours of meetings. To say the least, I am definitely missing the Sunday naps. Its good though, we went to a recorded devotional of David A. Bednar Sunday night that absolutely blew my mind. He talked about how we need to turn outward even when we are in the most difficult situations, and he told a story about a mother who had just lost her child in a car accident but instead of being self centered she made sure the other girls parents were informed and made sure the girls were alright and being treated. He also taught that Faith + Patience= Pure Knowledge. If you can imagine for a second, him yelling from the pulpit, I WANT COOKIE NOW! Followed by him again yelling: I WANT BAPTISM NOW! and then proceeded to teach us about the importance of patience and its now what we want or even feel we deserve but what that the people around us need. It was an amazing talk. Were also really settling into a rhythm which helps the time pass faster which is nice, a normal day consists of waking up at 630, going to breakfast at 730, planning session from 8-830 when class starts and then we have class from 830 to 1130 and then an hour or so break to study before lunch at 1230 then depending on the day exercise time for an hour and studying until dinner at around 5, then back to class from 6-9. So with the time were not eating in class or exercising we have to get in an hour of personal study, an hour of companion study, and also an hour of language study. Monday during exercise time playing basketball  i also got headed butted and broke/fractured my nose lol. I would send a picture but you can only tell if you look from the bottom up, and i didn't think any of you would want to look up my nose ha ha. Tuesday morning we had to wake up extra early for "service" which was actually just cleaning buildings that way they don't have to hire as many janitors, jk but it was good. I met an Elder Batt from Cedar City and got a picture with him his mom said they were related to some Battys so who knows. We also went into the new building and got some pictures from the top floor, i actually got some pictures of home ;) and also some of the murals in the building. There is a kid here that looks exactly like Barry Allen from The Flash, i call him flash and he calls me Hulk lol, I haven't got a picture with him yet but i hope he hasn't left yet so i can. Another thing is our "investigator" Maria, actually turned our to be our new teacher. It makes sense though, now she knows how bad we suck at Spanish and where we need to improve. Spanish is coming along its still pretty hard just because 6 hours out of the day we hear nothing but Spanish and I don't understand most of it ha ha. This morning we went to the temple again and got some more food, which was awesome because its so much better than all the food here at the MTC. I've met a lot of cool people, including a dude with my same toothbrush to we took a mirror pic with our cameras lol. Elder Randall is a huge soccer fan so hes super pumped for Espania, and a huge UTEs fan so i'm slowly convincing him (even though he doesn't know it) to be a BYU fan. And i cant wait to get out of the MTC and in the field. I hope all is well in all of your lives and keep me posted, i cant respond during the week but i can read them. Until next week! Ciao!

Elder Batty
